He regularly represents public and private hospitals, health systems, and individual physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers in medical malpractice, professional liability, licensure, and related matters.
An effective communicator, Edward works closely and collaboratively with his clients, outside experts, and other third parties to help them understand the legal and regulatory issues at hand; make appropriate, mission-driven decisions; and manage large litigation dockets efficiently and in a timely manner. He is dedicated to helping individual and institutional healthcare providers minimize potential liability and focus on patient care. Edward also has experience interpreting statutes and helped advise a major insurance company regarding the quickly changing statutory regime of Louisiana's bad faith statutes after natural disasters, most prominently Hurricane Katrina.
Edward has deep experience at every step of the litigation process, from initial discovery and depositions to the development of case strategies and the drafting and filing of motions and appeals. Throughout the years, he has successfully represented clients in matters involving premises liability defense, personal injury liability defense, products liability defense, and first- and third-party insurance defense litigation. He also has provided counsel in connection with transportation disputes, law-enforcement investigations and prosecutions, and business-succession and insurance-coverage disputes, among other areas. In addition to his client work, Edward provides pro bono representation to individuals and organizations in the area of animal law.
