Andre Burvant, a partner on the state and local tax team in the New Orleans office, co-presented two sessions with fellow IPT instructors at the IPT Sales Tax School II hosted in Atlanta, Georgia, from July 26-31, 2020. During the first presentation "Taxpayer Remedies," Andre and his co-presenter Robert Goldman of Dean, Mead, and Dunbar, addressed common taxpayer remedies with an emphasis on the process that occurs subsequent to an audit exit conference. During the second presentation "Mergers and Acquisitions," he and co-presenter Jeffrey Rhines of CBIZ MHM, LLC, covered mergers and acquisitions that addressed the sales and use tax issue related to selected corporate transactions including mergers, acquisitions, and reorganizations. The session included a discussion of available exemptions, potential limitations, due diligence reviews, and bulk sale transactions.
