Abby Weiland is an associate in the Maritime Practice Group and a member of the maritime litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution team.
An experienced legal researcher and writer, Abby is well versed in Jones Act seaman issues, the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act, vessel casualties, federal regulatory issues, and other related areas of maritime law. She is involved in all phases of maritime litigation support and trial preparation.
Abby earned her juris doctor degree, magna cum laude, from Tulane Law School, graduating top 5% of her class and earning the Order of the Coif distinction. She received the Dean’s medal for attaining the highest GPA during her third year and the David L. Herman award for earning the highest grade in the Legal Profession course. She also received the Association for Women Attorneys award for her work as a student attorney at the Domestic Violence Clinic. Abby served as a legal intern at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois, Western Division, and as a law clerk at the Tulane Legal Assistant Program. She was a managing editor of the Tulane Maritime Law Journal, president of the Tulane Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, member of Tulane Inn of Court and a senior member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Moot Court.
