Jenn Ungru is a director in the Government Relations Practice Group. She provides guidance on legislative advocacy, strategic policy development and execution, messaging, procurement strategy, and targeted crisis response and management.
Jenn draws on her more than two decades of political, policy, and governmental experience and accrued knowledge to provide real-world insights into her clients’ most pressing issues. Among other industries, she blends her deep understanding of healthcare regulation and her commitment as an advocate for healthcare providers to help clients navigate the constantly evolving regulatory, care delivery, and payment systems within this highly regulated sector.
In addition to her years in private practice, Jenn has served in high-profile roles in the Executive Office of the Governor of Florida, in the Florida Legislature, and at the highest levels of national and statewide political campaigns. She delivers solutions rooted in the “how and why” of policy and the political process.
Jenn’s many professional accomplishments include serving as appointed deputy chief of staff for Rick Scott. In this capacity, she oversaw a total of nine agencies, including the healthcare, public safety, and state and management services departments, which together accounted for more than 45% of the state of Florida’s total budget. Jenn was also chief of staff for the Agency for Health Care Administration, which oversees the state’s Medicaid program.
Nationally, Jenn’s political experience spans more than a dozen states and includes work with the Republican National Committee and the National Republican Senatorial Committee. During Gov. Ron DeSantis’ 2018 campaign, she was responsible for Election Day operations and subsequently led the recount efforts and strategy for the campaign. Jenn also was a presenter before the Transitional Advisory Committee on Government Operations, where she reviewed the 2018 elections and recounts and served as a member of the healthcare transition team.
