John Zimmer is an associate in the Corporate Practice Group and a member of the firm’s mergers and acquisitions and private equity team.

John’s practice focuses primarily on assisting public and private company clients with a broad range of complex corporate matters, including mergers, acquisitions, private equity transactions, reorganizations, and restructurings. He also regularly assists clients with issues of formation and management of business entities and advises on a variety of corporate governance issues.

John graduated first in his class from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law. While in law school, he was a member of the Loyola Law Review Editorial Board, served as the chief of staff of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Society, and competed in multiple American Bar Association competitions as a member of the Negotiation Team.

John has been an integral member of the deal team for numerous mergers, acquisitions, and other notable transactions, including:

Represented a private equity client in the company’s strategic investment and recapitalization of a Michigan-based franchisee of a national provider of residential and commercial property restoration services
Represented a Louisiana-based security company in the acquisition of a Georgia-based security company
Represented a heavy civil construction contracting company in the acquisition of a company specializing in soil stabilization services for e-commerce projects
Represented a South Dakota-based material handling company in the acquisition of an Alabama-based material handling service and sales dealership company and in the acquisition of a Louisiana-based lift truck dealership company
Represented a Louisiana-based marine company in the acquisition of a Missouri-based company’s shipyard, vessels, and related assets
Represented an Illinois-based marine company in the acquisition of another Illinois-based marine company’s assets
Assisted with the corporate restructuring of a Texas-based energy production and recycling company with operations and subsidiaries throughout the United States, Europe, and Southern Africa
Represented a bank holding company in the share exchange of another bank holding company
Represented a retail electricity and natural gas company in the renegotiation of a senior credit facility
Assisted multiple startups with the preparation of initial formation documents, including the preparation of initial operating agreements for multimember limited liability companies
