Kim Perret is chief marketing officer at Jones Walker. She develops and leads strategic initiatives that strengthen client relationships and raise the firm’s profile as a provider of quality legal services.
Kim leads all of Jones Walker's marketing and client development efforts. As a member of the executive management team, she works closely with leadership to develop the firm’s overall business development, client service, marketing communications, and marketing technology initiatives. Since joining the firm in 2012, Kim has built a strong marketing and business development team that has contributed to the firm’s consistent revenue growth.
Kim’s roots in the legal industry run deep. Prior to joining Jones Walker, she served as director of marketing and business development at Hunton & Williams (now Hunton Andrews Kurth) in Washington, DC. Before that, she was chief marketing officer at Sutherland Asbill & Brennan, based in Atlanta, Georgia. Having worked with lawyers and practice groups in virtually every legal discipline and serving a cross-spectrum of industries, Kim has gained a deep familiarity with the concerns and goals of regional, national, and international businesses. She draws on this knowledge to connect clients with the legal counsel and resources they need to achieve their objectives.
Active in the legal marketing industry, Kim was a two-term president of the Legal Marketing Association's (LMA) Capital Chapter in Washington, DC. In 2013, she was honored as that year’s sole inductee to the LMA Hall of Fame; the year before, she was inducted to the LMA Capital Chapter Hall of Fame. Kim also is a long-time member of the Zeughauser CMO Leadership Roundtable, a by-invitation-only organization focused on the future of legal marketing and issues facing the industry as a whole. In 2006, she was elected president of the International Legal Marketing Association, a 3000+ member organization of professionals working in the law firm industry.
Among her many professional interests, Kim is a dedicated advocate for accuracy, truthfulness, and transparency in legal advertising and the creation of an environment in which successful businesses and underserved individuals alike can make more informed choices regarding their legal services providers. She is current co-chair of the LMA Advocacy Working Group on Ethics and Advertising, where she has helped lead the organization’s support for revisions to and clarification of the American Bar Association Model Rules of Professional Conduct.
Kim is equally committed to active engagement in her community. She served as a member of the board and chair of the Resource Development Committee for The Pro Bono Project, an organization of lawyers, law firm leaders, educators, and consultants providing free legal services to the poor in New Orleans. While living in the Washington, DC, area, she was involved with The Reading Connection, a literacy program for children living in housing crisis, for which she served as a volunteer for 20 years and as board chair and board member for more than a decade.
