Lisa Smith provides broad-ranging compliance services to community banks and other financial institutions.
Drawing on her decades of experience in the banking and financial services industry, Lisa advises local and regional banks, credit unions, thrifts, and other financial institutions on the full spectrum of federal and state compliance programs. As a former director of consumer loan compliance at Metropolitan Bank and a former vice president at Merchants and Planters Bank, Lisa understands the unique, real-world issues and resource challenges facing small and midsize community banks and their executives. Having advised dozens of financial institutions in her private practice, she works closely with clients to conduct compliance assessments, draft reports, and provide ongoing advice with respect to implementing, managing, and updating their compliance policies, technologies, and operations.
Together with Jones Walker’s banking and financial services attorneys, Lisa provides guidance on financial services providers’ most pressing compliance concerns. She consults on banking-related federal and state laws and regulations such as the Bank Secrecy Act, the Community Reinvestment Act, the Consumer Credit Protection Act, the Equal Credit Opportunity Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Fair Housing Act, the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, the Truth in Lending Act, and other fair lending and consumer protection regulations.
Serving her community is important to Lisa. Among other charitable and volunteer activities, Lisa has worked with the American Heart Association, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and other organizations in the Biloxi area.
