Melanie Fridgant is an associate in the Maritime Practice Group and a member of the maritime litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution team who has international regulatory and transactional experience.
Melanie’s practice focuses on serving the maritime and energy industries with an emphasis on projects involving renewable energy, infrastructure, and industrial construction projects. She represents energy companies, multinational EPC contractors, general contractors, and subcontractors in time-sensitive matters in both Texas state and federal court and in arbitration proceedings. Melanie also negotiates day-to-day commercial agreements and EPC agreements for onshore and offshore energy infrastructure projects. Her practice includes advising clients with regulatory matters and regarding international trade, the Jones Act and coastwise trade laws, as well as compliance with the Federal Maritime Commission and US sanctions. She also assists with carbon dioxide capture, storage, and enhanced recovery projects.
Prior to joining Jones Walker, Melanie worked in the maritime and insurance groups of an international law firm. She was also seconded to both a leading US and UK based specialty lines insurer where she gained a greater understanding of North American and UK casualty and property claims. She is a French native and previously lived in France, Qatar, and the United Kingdom.
