Pete Dunbar is special counsel in the Government Relations Practice Group. For more than four decades, he has advocated for clients before the legislative and executive branches of Florida state government.
Pete concentrates his practice on governmental, administrative, and real property law. After beginning his career as staff director in the Florida House of Representatives in 1967, he subsequently served as a distinguished member of the Florida House representing Pinellas and Pasco counties for five terms. He then held posts as general counsel and director of legislative affairs under Gov. Bob Martínez and as general counsel at the Florida Department of Financial Services. Pete also served as chief of staff during the transition to the administration of Gov. Lawton Chiles.
A former chairman and two-term member of the Florida Ethics Commission, Pete also served on the inaugural committee for the Condominium and Planned Development Law Certification for the Florida Bar.
Outside his legal practice, Pete has served as an adjunct professor at Florida State University School of Law and is a volunteer and coach for the Special Olympics. He has been selected by his peers as a member of Florida Trend’s Florida Legal Elite Hall of Fame and is board certified in condominium and planned development law.
