Robert Waddell is a partner in the Litigation Practice Group. He focuses on intellectual property litigation.
Robert advises and represents clients in matters involving patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, unfair trade practices, and unfair competition. Robert also handles matters related to commercial and business litigation, including breach of licensing, confidentiality, consulting, and employment agreements. He has represented clients throughout the United States in federal and state courts and before the International Trade Commission. Robert has been appointed an arbitrator in complex commercial disputes.
A registered patent attorney, Robert counsels clients in a variety of technological fields, including oil and gas drilling and production, oilfield equipment, chemical and pharmaceutical products, healthcare, manufacturing, and consumer products. He has managed patent portfolios; drafted and prosecuted US, international, and foreign patent applications; handled US patent reissue and reexamination proceedings; procured US, international, and foreign trademark registrations and US copyright registrations; conducted patent infringement/non-infringement and validity/invalidity analyses; conducted trademark clearance and infringement/non-infringement analyses; negotiated and prepared intellectual-property and commercial agreements, including purchase, license, transfer, manufacturing, distributorship, consulting, and confidentiality agreements; and coordinated IP due diligence for sellers and purchasers.
Robert co-founded and served as vice-chair of the Intellectual Property Law Section of the Louisiana State Bar Association from 1995 to 1997.
