Russell King is of counsel to the firm and advises on a broad range of legislative and regulatory policy matters.
Prior to joining the firm, Russell was in private practice from 1974 to 1975 in Savannah, Georgia. In late 1975, he joined the Office of US Senator Herman E. Talmadge in Washington, DC, as legislative assistant and counsel and, subsequently, legislative director, where he was responsible for tax, trade, energy, and agricultural issues. In 1979, Russell moved to Atlanta, Georgia, to join Southern Railway as special representative. He returned to Washington, DC, in 1980, as counsel to Freeport Minerals Company. Russell currently serves as senior vice president of Freeport-McMoRan, an international natural resource company.
Russell joined Jones Walker in 2001. He represents Freeport-McMoRan and advises on policy matters regarding the US Congress and federal agencies, as well as before national governments, including those of Indonesia, Chile, Peru, and Serbia.
