Rick Schroeder is a partner in the Litigation Practice Group, focusing his practice primarily on corporate legal compliance programs, internal investigations, and government enforcement proceedings.

Rick represents local, national, and international companies and their officers and employees in business and corporate compliance matters, internal investigations, and government enforcement proceedings.

Rick focused the first decade of his 30-year legal career on commercial litigation and criminal defense, where he tried cases in federal and state courts. In the early 2000's, Rick began to advise and assist clients in the development of internal compliance programs, and founded Jones Walker’s corporate compliance and white collar practice within the Litigation Practice Group. His practice has focused exclusively on compliance and related matters for more than 15 years.

Rick has particular experience helping public and private companies, in particular those with international operations, identify legal risks and develop comprehensive, state-of-the-art compliance programs that address those risks efficiently and effectively. He routinely advises in-house legal and corporate compliance departments and conducts compliance training for senior management and boards of directors.

He has more than 20 years of extensive experience in matters dealing with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and has designed international anti-corruption compliance programs for numerous companies with operations throughout the world. He has acted as lead counsel in dozens of internal investigations into matters involving the FCPA, fraud, embezzlement, OFAC and other trade regulations, securities violations, antitrust violations, whistleblower claims, and public corruption. Rick has defended public companies as lead or co-lead counsel in numerous Department of Justice investigations as well as Securities and Exchange Commission enforcement actions.

Rick has served as chair of the ABA's White Collar Committee for the South Central Region of the United States, and is a past president of the Louisiana Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He also served on the board of the Innocence Project of New Orleans for ten years, including serving as its chairman for seven years. He currently serves on the board of Court Watch NOLA.
