Mark Adams is a partner in the Labor & Employment Practice Group. He represents employers in all types of employment matters.
For more than 30 years, Mark has represented employers in disputes before federal and state courts and regulatory agencies. Drawing on the depth and breadth of his experience, he counsels employers on the development of effective human resources policies, procedures, and strategies for complying with federal and state labor and employment laws. A major focus of Mark’s practice is representing clients in the area of federal contractor compliance including affirmative action, Davis-Bacon, and Service Contract Act. Mark has extensive experience assisting federal contractors and subcontractors in numerous states in connection with the preparation and maintenance of affirmative action plans and defending compliance evaluations by the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) from desk audits through off-site and on-site reviews and negotiating favorable conciliation agreements. He also works with businesses to limit exposure to employment claims, litigation, union organizing, and government agency investigations.
Mark founded Jones Walker's Labor & Employment Practice Group and served as its chair until 2006. He also served as a member of the firm’s executive committee from 2001 to 2006 and helped lead the firm through Hurricane Katrina.
Since 1992, Mark has been an editor of the Louisiana Employment Law Letter and, starting in January 2020, the Southeast Employment Law Letter, a monthly report designed especially for human resource professionals on new developments and emerging trends in labor and employment law. He also is a founding member of the Employers Counsel Network, a select coalition of leading labor and employment law practitioners representing each of the 50 US states and Canada. Throughout his career, he has been a frequent speaker at professional meetings and seminars and has authored numerous papers and articles for professional and trade journals.
